A magnitude-4.7 earthquake deep below the surface has rattled some residents in the Dominican Republic but there are no reports of any injuries or damage.
According to AP, the U.S. Geological Survey says the Sunday morning quake was centered roughly 5 miles (8 kilometers) east-southeast of San Pedro de Macoris, just east of the capital of Santo Domingo.
It occurred before dawn at a depth of about 62 miles (100 kilometers).
Authorities say the quake was felt in parts of Santo Domingo and they fielded calls from some jittery residents.
