Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs Hisham Badr

Egypt and Russia discussed on Saturday disarmament efforts and means of setting up a mass destruction weapon-free zone in the Middle East.
The session of talks, held in Cairo, also touched on ways to push forward these efforts through the preparatory meetings of the 2020 review conference of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Egypt was represented by Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs Hisham Badr, while the Russian side was headed by director of the Foreign Ministry's department for arms control, Mikhail Ulyanov.
Badr noted that talks come within the framework of the great importance attached by international powers to contact and coordinate with Egypt in line with its historic role in disarmament efforts and its keenness to maintain global security and peace.
