At least seven security personnel from the paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) were killed in a militant attack on a security check post in southwestern Balochistan province of Pakistan, said reports on Monday.
According to media reports, around 40 militants attacked the check post in Mekhtar area of Loralai district in Balochistan with rockets and gunfire killing seven FC personnel. Security forces resorted to retaliatory firing wounding several attackers. Additional contingents of security personnel reached the area and the site was cordoned off. Balochistan, Pakistan's resource rich province has remained under the grip of violence for over a decade and militants have targeted security forces and national installations several times.
