Afghan army kills militants

Twenty militants have been killed and 25 others wounded during separate military operations carried out by the Afghan army within the past 24 hours, said the country' s Defense Ministry on Saturday morning.
"Afghan army specialists defused 40 roadside bombs. The army personnel also seized 100 suicide bombing vests and uncovered 100 kg of explosive materials during the operations," the ministry said in a statement.
Two army soldiers were killed over the same period of time.
Furthermore, five members of two armed groups were killed in a clash in northern Kunduz province earlier on Saturday.
The Taliban-led violence continues in Afghanistan. Security forces have press on to clear the militants in restive provinces.
The Taliban responds by bombing and armed attacks. On Friday, nine policemen were killed in two separate attacks on security checkpoints in northern Balkh and eastern Ghazni provinces.
The Taliban insurgent group has yet to make comments.
