Five people were killed and four others injured Saturday in a road accident in the eastern Indian state of Bihar, said police.

The incidents took place in the state's Sitamarhi district, where five people on board a car died on the spot and one injured when the speeding vehicle hit a stationary truck.

Road accidents take place frequently in India due to reckless driving, bad road conditions and lack of safety surveillance.
