At least 47 people were killed and 16 others seriously injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck in Talo, 160 km north of Togo's capital Lome, a government official said on Tuesday.
The accident happened late on Monday when a 56-seat bus collided with a heavy truck, leading to a pileup involving a minibus. 15 of those killed were Burkinabe nationals, one Nigerian and 31 Togolese.
It is the third fatal road accident in the African country this year, where roads are poor and vehicles often overloaded with people and goods. In February, 18 people died and more than 50 people were injured in a crash.
