Gunmen in Chechnya shot dead three traffic police before security forces killed seven of the attackers, dpa cited news reports as saying Thursday.
The gunmen opened fire at a checkpoint during the night in the capital Grozny, before holing up in a nearby publishing house where they were besieged by responding security forces, said the leader of the northern Russian republic, Raman Kadyrov.
