Up to 29 Syrian servicemen were killed in clashes with Daesh militants west of al Mayadin city in Deir ez-Zor governorate, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, a Syrian military source said the Syrian army and its allies had encircled Daesh militants in al Mayadin city.
