Two people were killed and 17 others wounded Monday in an explosion in an animal feed processing plant in U.S. state of Nebraska, local media reported.
The explosion occurred Monday morning in an International Nutrition plant in Omaha, Nebraska. All 38 workers who were in the building at the time of blast had been accounted for as of Monday evening. Two people were confirmed dead and 17 others seriously hurt, the Omaha police were quoted as saying.
Ten of the wounded workers were hospitalized while seven others refused treament. The other 19 workers were unhurt, the police said.
In a press conference Monday afternoon, Interim Fire Chief Bernie Kanger said there were fatalities in the explosion, but could not confirm the number before a full research of the building was to be completed, according to local media WOWT.
Kanger added that the case had been classified as an industrial accident and the cause was not yet known.
