Salah seeks domestic double
London - Umar Farooq
Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah has refused to comment on his future beyond this season after Basel were knocked out of the Europa League semi-finals by Chelsea on Thursday.
Salah, who has been a revelation at the Swiss club since joining from Egypt’s Arab Contractors last summer, opened the scoring with a neat finish at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea stormed back to claim a 3-1 victory on the night (5-2 on aggregate) to secure their place in the final.
Speaking after the match, Salah said he and his fellow countryman Mohamed el-Neny were concentrating on helping Basel claim the domestic double.
"Playing in such a big competition [Europa League] is a very good experience for me and el-Neny, we are still young and we do need to gain experience,” Salah told al-Jazeera Sports.
"I don’t want to think about anything else now; my primary focus is to help Basel win the league and the cup, after which I can think about the next step," the winger emphasised.
The 20-year old confirmed that he hadn't received any concrete offers, but added: "I hope something good will come up.”
The pacy winger has scored eight goals in 40 appearances in all competitions since joining Basel.
