The MoI have created a summer-long campaign aimed at reducing the high number of road accidents.

The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has revealed that 961 road accidents took place during the summer season of 2016 in the UAE.
Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director General of Traffic Coordination at MoI, said that traffic accidents continue to be a concern.
He said that the statistics issued by the General Directorate of Traffic Coordination, revealed that 961 accidents took place in the summer of 2016. The accidents resulted in 170 deaths and 1213 injuries.
He noted that accidents rise during the summer time. The summer of 2016 witnessed a total of 20 per cent of the total road accidents, 23.44 per cent of total deaths and 18.15 per cent of all injuries.
He said that the MoI have thus created a summer-long campaign, which ends in September, aiming at reducing the high number of road accidents.
The campaign is MoI's third to launch this year, which is held under the slogan, 'Summer without Accidents.'
Brigadier Al Zaabi added that roads will therefore be intensified with police officers, as more families are expected to go on road trips.
He also advised motorists to insure their tires are safe and pass the maintenance requirements, as well as complying with the speed limit.
