The Egyptian-Iraqi ties are distinguished and historic, affirmed Egypt's Mufti Dr Shawki Allam on Thursday. Egypt is keen on promoting ties with Iraq in the future, added the Mufti during his meeting with Iraqi Ambassador to Egypt Diaa al-Dabbas. The Mufti, meanwhile, said that the draft constitution represents all segments of the Egyptian people, adding that Al-Azhar played a crucial role in bringing viewpoints closer among the members of the 50-member panel. The Iraqi ambassador, for his part, appreciated the role played by Al-Azhar in uniting the Arab nation. He also said that Iraq seeks to boost ties with Egypt in the various fields.
