The trial of Muslim Brotherhood spiritual leader Mohamed Badie began Monday in Cairo and marked his first public appearance since August, Ahram Online reported. Badie and two of his deputies are facing charges of incitement to murder in the deaths of protesters July 15. Nine anti-Brotherhood protesters were killed and 91 others were injured when the protesters stormed offices of the organization in Cairo. Fifteen other co-defendants were accused of "terrorism, illegal assembly, murder, damaging private property and possession of weapons," court documents said. Badie's trial was halted in October after the three presiding judges withdrew because of a conflict of interest.
