Egyptian lawmaker Anisa Hasouna filed on Sunday an interpellation against Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker over the skyrocketing electricity bills.
Over the past few months, Egyptians have been complaining that their bills have doubled or even tripled without knowing a reason for that.
The interpellation seeks to get answers why electricity distribution companies deferred the cost of some part of citizens' power consumption bill to other months.
This matter has exhausted Egyptians, especially with the advent of summer, she said, urging the minister to calculate the real cost of the bill and not to defer part of the cost to other months.
The ministry has criticized the latest fuss over electricity bills, saying no charges have been lately introduced to the price restructure system that was approved in 2014.
