Algeria's Interior Minister Tayeb Belaiz said on Saturday that the border with Libya, which extends for 1,000 km, is a main source of concern to his country despite the end of the civil war in Libya late 2011. Speaking at a press seminar in Ghardaïa province, Belaiz said that the Algerian government continues to close its borders with Mali and Niger while taking into consideration the humanitarian conditions in these countries. He asserted that the Algerian army seized advanced weapons and rockets several times along the border.
