Arab League headquarters in Cairo

The 28th session of the Arab Environment Ministers Council began at the Arab League headquarters on Thursday under the chairmanship of Qatari Municipality and Environment Minister Mohamed ben Abdullah Al Rumaihi.

The session, attended by Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit, discusses 24 items, atop of which is following up the implementation of UN Environment Program (UNEP) resolutions, Arab Arab preparations for the coming session of the UNEP to take place in November of 2017 and following up Arab implementation of a number of international agreements on biological diversity, fighting desertification and disposal of hazardous waste.

The session will also discuss the environmental conditions in the Palestinian territories, occupied Golan Heights, Comoros, Sudan and other Arab countries.

The session will also tackle Arab vision for the implementation of the UN sustainable development goals, especially what is related to environment.
