Cairo - Egypt Today
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi welcomed Wednesday his Uruguayan counterpart Tabare Vazquez’s visit to Egypt, hailing ties between the two countries.
At a press conference with Vazquez, Sisi hailed distinguished relations between Egypt and Uruguay, stressing that he was looking forward to boosting ties between the two countries and enhancing cooperation and coordination at all levels.
Sisi said his talks with Vazquez paid special attention to boosting economic cooperation between the two countries, urging businessmen in Uruguay to benefit from available investment opportunities in Egypt.
This is the first official visit by an Uruguayan president to Egypt since diplomatic ties between Cairo and Montevideo were launched in 1932, Sisi said.
Sisi said Egypt and Uruguay share close views towards several international issues, adding that they agreed on continuing ongoing coordination in the light of their non-permanent membership in UNSC, especially as regards the Palestinian cause, the developments in the Middle East, fighting terrorism and illegal immigration, refugees, environment, and climate change
