Kurdistan contract for Petrofac

Petrofac, a leading international service provider to the oil and gas processing and production industry, announced today that it had won a three-year master services agreement, MSA, to support Russia’s Gazprom Neft Middle East B.V. with the provision of engineering services on a call-off basis for the Garmian field in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

In an announcement to the London Stock Exchange, the company said that the MSA had been secured following a competitive tendering process. It will complement Petrofac’s extensive footprint in Iraq, where it has been operating since 2010.

Gazprom Neft has been operator of the Garmian field since early 2016.

Steve Webber, Senior Vice President, Petrofac Engineering and Production Services - East, said, "We are delighted Gazprom Neft has selected Petrofac as one of its key suppliers in support of the Garmian field CPF upgrade project," according to the statement.

"We have been working with this key client in Iraq for more than three years and hope to take this opportunity to build on our relationship through the demonstration of Petrofac’s fit-for-purpose and value-driven engineering solutions in the Kurdistan region," he added.

With 31 offices and around 13,000 staff worldwide, Petrofac has had a presence in the UAE since 1991, when it established its Sharjah office, which now supports both regional and international projects.

In 2008, it formed Petrofac Emirates in Abu Dhabi as a strategic joint venture with Mubadala Petroleum. Petrofac increased its economic interest in the company in 2013 to 75 percent, with the remaining 25 percent now owned by Nama Project Services LLC. Petrofac Emirates provides a full range of engineering, design, procurement and construction services for major onshore oil and gas, refining and petrochemical projects.

Petrofac, a component of the FTSE 250 Index on the London Stock Exchange, has undertaken major projects both onshore and offshore for Abu Dhabi’s oil and gas industry. It describes Emiratisation as being "a key priority for our business in the UAE."
