Unidentified gunmen have assassinated a Yemeni army colonel and a local official on the southern outskirts of the country’s capital, Sanaa. Security sources told Arabstoday on Friday that armed men opened fire on a car carrying Colonel Yahya Gamaey, killing him along with Arafat al-Maghney, a local authority construction employee. “The shooters fled in a car to an unknown location,” the source said. Authorities said they had no information regarding the perpetrators of the attacks.
