Two unknown gunmen assassinated a Yemeni security officer near the Police Academy in the capital Sanaa, on Sunday afternoon. A series of assassinations have been carried out in 2012 by unidentified gunmen, believed to be linked to al-Qaeda. The assassinations targeted Yemeni officers in army intelligence and security, in different parts of the country. Security sources told Arabstoday that two gunmen shot the Yemeni Interior Ministry officer, Bashir Odaini, while passing the gate of the Yemeni police academy in the centre of Sanaa. The duo escape before capture. Sources revealed the assassinators used a pistol to hit the officer in the chest and head.
