A prisoner in a Yemeni jail has tried to castrate himself in a bizarre suicide attempt. The Yemeni Interior Ministry said on its website that a man accused of murder had used a razor to try to cut off his own penis. Prison officials from the jail in the Rada district of al-Bayda immediately transferred the man to hospital for urgent treatment, after discovering his dismembered body. According to the ministry, he will be taken back to prison following his treatment where he is pending investigation. Yemeni authorities have not released further details on one of the strangest suicide attempt the country has every seen.
