The UN Support Mission in Libya decided to defer the expanded political dialogue it has asked for but without setting a new date.
The dialogue session was scheduled to take place on June 18 and 19.
In a statement late on Wednesday, the mission stressed that it is not taking any one's side and that it is only working for serving the higher national interests of Libya.
The mission said a new date will be set after consultations with bodies concerned, reiterating commitment to preserving the stability of Libya and building a state of law.
It called on all Libyan partners to provide an appropriate political and security atmosphere for elections.
