United Nations special adviser on Yemen Jamal Benomar

United Nations Special Adviser on Yemen Jamal Benomar announced Friday that the parties involved in the Yemeni crisis have agreed in principal on a resolution to the current crisis.
In a statement released to the press today, Benomar said that the political parties involved agreed on establishing a transitional council that would be more representative than the current parliament. The parliament would remain, but the new "People's Transitional Council" would have at least 50% of its members from the South, 30% women and 20% as youth. The two bodies combined will be Yemen's National Council.
The new transitional council will be concerned with passing legislations that move the transitional period forward, Benomar added in his statement. The UN official also said that the latest announcement is one step forward towards achieving a comprehensive solution to the Yemeni crisis.
