Tunisia’s Foreign Ministry has denied media reports it is planning to hand over the keys of its Syrian embassy in Tunis to opposition politicians. Television channels and newspaper had claimed Syrian National Coalition (SNC) bloc members would soon take over the embassy. Reported proposals were “not even on the table,” a ministry statement said on Saturday, adding that international treaties prevented the alleged handover. Tunisia has repeatedly pledged its support for the Syrian revolution, calling for democracy in the war-ravaged country.
