Tunis - Azhar Jarboui
Security forces in Tunisia’s capital are on high alert, following the announcement of a demonstration by the Tunis Appeal Party.
According to media reports, the Tunisian army has already begun patrolling the country’s capital Tunis, in anticipation of possible violence and rioting during the march. The forces are mainly focusing on commercial areas such as Habib Bourguiba Street.
In a statement issued today, the Tunis Appeal Party said that the demonstration was in honour of slain opposition leader Chokri Belaid, who was murdered on February 6. The party revealed that protestors are demanding for the government to disclose the identity of his killers.
