The Ambassador of the Iranian Islamic republic in Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi has passed a congratulatory message to recently appointed Prime Minister Tammam Salam. Roknabadi said that he had met with Salam to discuss the “latest developments in Lebanon, the region, and the international arena.” The ambassador added that the relations between Iran and Lebanon and the prospects for cooperation and national unity between both countries were discussed, “security is a top priority” he said.
Regarding the recent involvement of Lebanese Hezbollah in fighting in Syria, Roknabadi identified the fight against “Israeli occupation involvement” in Syria as “one of the fairest in the world” adding that supporting the regime is fundamental to Lebanese national security.
“Since the beginning of the Syrian crisis we announced that there are popular demands for reforms to be led by President Assad, if the Americans support the political solution the crisis can be stopped within a few days.”
After the meeting Salam met with head of the Journalism Syndicate Council Mohammed al-Baalbaki who described Salam as optimistic, honest, and loyal.”
