Syrian Ambassador to Qatar Nezar el-Heraky has announced his embassy’s intention to submit a plan to the Arab League and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to renew passports to Syrians. Passports would be renewed regardless of Syrians’ place of residence. If approved, el-Heraky said, the proposal would be “an important step to assist the Syrian people.” The passport plan is expected to be ratified by May 12, according to a statement on the embassy’s website.
