Khartoum - Abedalgoum Ashmeag
Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Eighth Supreme Sudanese Islamic Movement Professor Ibrahim Ahmed, said disagreement over the election of the Secretary General of the Islamic movement \"does not scare the movement,\" but this difference is a departure from objectivity.
He explained that the election of the Secretary General of this session will not be direct, but through the Shura Council and in accordance with the Constitution, which is expected clearance in these sessions. He also pointed out that the conference will review the articles of the Constitution and sanction on Friday.
In his press conference the head of the committee talked about the conference programme which is expected to be held Thursday. On the first day they will elect the conference head and his deputies, where the suggested issues are important to all Islamists in the world - not only for Sudan.
On the absence of Dr Youssef Qaradawi to attend the conference, Ahmed mentioned that he has some health problems during performing Hajj and he was transferred to Doha for treatment. However the absence is not related to his initiative about unification of all Islamists in Sudan.
Previous attempts have been stopped due to disputing parties, but the conference reflects an important image on the Islamists situation in Sudan, in order to widen the global condemnation against aggression on Sudan.
The conference is considered very important due to the vast majority intentions to chance leaders, as most Islamists prefer Ali Osman Taha to remain in his position trying to avoid any disputes to erupt, which may lead to a new separation in the movement after the separation happened between Turabi and Bashir in 1999.
