The Sudanese army has denied news of defections among its troops in North Darfur State.
Reports of defections in North Darfur are baseless, said military spokesman Col. al-Sawarmy Khaled Saad in statements to Sudan's "Al Yom Al Tali" newspaper Monday.
The Sudanese army is coherent, Saad assured.
