Khartoum - Abedalgoum Ashmeag
Sudan Liberation Movement forces have attacked positions in Dubbo in South Darfur, according to Sudanese army Colonel Sawarmi Khaled.
Sudanese armed forces responded to rebels led by former senior assistant to President Omar al-Bashir, Arco Minawi, expelling insurgents from the area.
Rebel groups escaped after Sudanese forces killed 15 fighters and destroyed three vehicles, Khaled claimed.
Dubbo is now under Sudanese military control, sources reported.
Minawi’s troops have launched attacks on Bedouin areas across Darfur in recent weeks, following an announcement to expand military operations in the region.
