The interim Libyan government announced Friday that security measures have been beefed up in the eastern city of Benghazi. More police and military personnel will be deployed to secure the city, the government said after a security meeting. The Benghazi municipal council earlier had asked the government to deploy more police troops in the city, threatening that no funds would be channeled to state coffers if this request was not met. Citizens have blocked several roads here in protest at assassinations that have become recurrent in the city. Source: MENA
