The eldest son of former Yemeni president, Ahmed Ali Abdullah Saleh was sworn in by President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, for his new appointment as ambassador of Yemen to the United Arab Emirates. Ahmed, who was born in 1972, began his political career when he ran for the election of the House of Representatives in 1997. But he abandoned civil action and headed to military action upon the request of his father, as close circles say. He was quickly upgraded in the military ranks, before his father assigned him leader of what was called the Republican Guard and Special Forces, which included more than 30 military well-trained and well-armed brigades. He supported his father during the uprising against his rule in 2011, and his presence formed a balancing factor after the defection of General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar to the army the army.
