Russia said that shelling its Embassy in Damascus should be treated as an "act of terror" and that those behind the attacks "must bear the punishment that they deserve."
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that two mortar shells landed near the Russian Embassy in Damascus on Thursday, killing a Syrian security guard and injuring nine others, reported Russia's news agency (Ria Novosti).
The building of the embassy was slightly damaged in the blasts said the statement adding that no casualties among the embassys Russian employees were reported.
