Cairo - Akram Ali
Qatari Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber bin Muhammad al-Thani arrived in Cairo on Tuesday for private meetings with Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi, and Prime Minister Hisham Kandil.
Government sources told Arabstoday that the leaders are expected to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries in some of the key political fields.
Al-Thani, who flew in from Washington on a private jet, is reportedly interested in buying Egyptian bonds up to the value of $3bn.
The Qatari PM will also hold talks about the Syrian conflict, following his consultations with US Secretary of State John Kerry in Washington.
Al-Thani led an Arab ministerial delegation in Washington on Monday, which held meetings with senior US officials, including President Barack Obama and Kerry, about the peace process between Israel and Palestine.
The delegation included Arab foreign ministers from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine and the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Elaraby.
