Alexandria – Haitham Mohammed
Hundreds of protesters are attempting to break into a local office of the Freedom and Justice Party in the east-Alexandria district of Fleming. The protesters tore up the sign above the office, which they also pelted with rocks, shattering its glass panels.
Alexandria’s Director of Security, Major General Abdelmawgoud Lotfi said dozens of people gathered outside the office in Mostafa Kamel Street and pelted it with rocks. They tried to break in before they were stopped by locals - especially as the office is in a residential building.
Protesters in Alexandria have broken into two local Freedom and Justice Party offices in Ramleh Station and Ibrahimiya. They had also forced out the residents in a building that housed the local Muslim Brotherhood administrative office to tear up the office’s sign and throw out its contents. The building’s board then terminated its contract with the Islamist organisation.
