Nablus - Arab Today
Fierce clashes erupted Monday between tens of Palestinian youth and Israeli forces who broke into Yusuf Tomb east of the northern West Bank city of Nablus.
The Israeli forces, accompanied by settlers, intensified their presence at the Tomb and erected military checkpoints to provide protection for the settlers on their way to the tomb, eyewitnesses said.
The soldiers clashed with the Palestinians who protested settlers’ break-in, causing a number of injuries among the Palestinians.
The Israeli settlers break into Yusuf Tomb on a weekly basis under heavy military protection to perform Talmudic rituals at the site.
The tomb is an Islamic shrine for a man called Sheikh Yusuf Dweikat but the Jewish settlers insist that it was the tomb of Prophet Joseph and turned it into a Jewish religious center.
