Palestinian refugees in Ras Judir’s Alchoch camp have called for an open-ended hunger strike, demanding the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) resettle them. Over 20 refugees have joined the strike, claiming European states have already offered to resettle them while the UNHCR refuses to do so. Displaced persons who fled the outbreak of the Libyan revolution have received a formal letter for the Palestine Liberation Organisation offering to resettle them in an undisclosed foreign country, a spokesman claimed. Alcoch camp is located close to Tunisia’s border with Libya.
