Almost all Palestinian prisoners, held in Israeli jails, Thursday launched a one-day hunger strike in solidarity with hunger striking administrative detainees, said Qaddura Fares, head of the Prisoners’ Club.
To be noted, around 150 administrative detainees have been on an open hunger strike for two weeks to protest against their illegal imprisonment without charge or trial, according to (WAFA) news agency.
Under administrative detention, defendants are not given a direct criminal charge nor prosecuted before the court of law. Furthermore, the term of arrest is renewable for an indefinite number of times at the discretion of the court.
The Club said more prisoners had also joined the hunger strikers in their open hunger strike.
