Two Omani citizens who were abducted recently in Lebanon were released, Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today in a statement.
The ministry said that the Omani citizens now at the Omani Embassy in Beirut in a preparation for their return to the country.
The statement issued by the Omani news agency (ONA) praised the efforts made by all Lebanese government and security agencies for the release of the Omani abductees.
On Friday, a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that coordinated efforts were going on in cooperation with the authorities in Lebanon for the release of the Omanis.
The two were kidnapped by armed men who intercepted their taxi when they were travelling to Bekaa region, according to (Times of Oman).
The two Omani citizens had arrived at Tripoli airport on Thursday and took a taxi to Baalbek in eastern Lebanon. The taxi was later intercepted by a group which took them to an unknown destination, and told the taxi driver to return.
