Islamist militant group the al-Nusra Front took on Tuesday responsibility for the assassination of the governor of Syria’s Hama province.
The group said the assassination was in retaliation for a chemical attack against civilians in Ghouta, on the outskirts of Damascus which it blamed on the Syrian army.
The front announced on its Twitter account that a car bomb was used to kill the governor and a number of his companions on Sunday.
Furthermore the group vowed to retaliate against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad directly, for the chemical attack.
