North Korea has warned foreign embassies in Pyongyang that they cannot guarantee their safety in the event of a conflict. A Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) spokesperson said on Friday: “North Korea\'s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed a number of foreign embassies in Pyongyang - including the British Embassy and representatives of international organisations - that they are unable to guarantee their safety.\" The embassies have been invited to inform the ministry of what assistance they may require should they wish to be evacuated, asking for an informed decision by April 10. “We are consulting international partners about these developments. No decisions have been taken, and we have no immediate plans to withdraw our embassy” confirmed the FCO spokesperson. The spokesperson also highlighted tensions provoked by North Korea in recent weeks. “We condemn this behaviour and urge the North Korean government to work constructively with the international community\" he added. The Foreign Office has said it is monitoring the situation and is in close “contact with its allies.”
