Governor of North Darfur Othman Yousif Kebr expressed his government’s keenness to protect the safety and security of foreigners in the region. He pledged to exert every effort to secure the release of the four kidnapped people currently being held. He expressed that he is especially keen to safeguard foreigners working on development projects in the country.
Kebr told Arabstoday that he had discussed resuming work on road projects during his visit to el-Koma, but accused the armed movements of impeding the development process. The Governor clarified that he discussed providing security to ensure the safety of workers with a Chinese company, whilst praising the stance adopted by China with regards to the economic situation of the country.
The North Darfur governor revealed that he met with a Jordanian security official who had expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by North Darfur’s government in releasing Jordanian officers kidnapped during the recent months.
