Nouakchott - Mohammad Abeidy Sharif
Mauritanian military commander Ely Ould Kromboli Rafik has launched a stinging attack on President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, accusing him forging a false certificate to enter the army.
Speaking to French TV channel Moriueb, Kromboli revealed that the president is good friends with businessman Mohamed Ould Buamatu, who was recently charged with tax evasion and declared bankrupt.
Kromboli said President Abdel Aziz is "selfish and adores money," adding "he think he owns the treasury, the central bank and the budget, and all those who work with him must follow his Machiavellian view."
The soldier said that he knew the president personally, and felt that his "oppressed childhood" had turned him into a "psychologically sick person."
He claimed that "France still needs Ould Abdel Aziz in Mauritania," and it is unfortunate that Mauritanians are being led by such an "irresponsible person."
