An official source with the Interior Ministry's press center said that the explosion that took place in Maadi earlier on Friday was caused by a gas leakage.
In a released statement by the ministry, the source added that a butane gas cylinder caused the explosion with no casualties reported.
Security forces rushed to the scene of the fire immediately after receiving a report, he said, adding that all legal measures were adopted.
