Lebanese Army commander Gen. Jean Kahwagi said the army made a major progress in pushing out militants and securing villages near the border with neighboring Syria.
His remarks came a day after the Lebanese Army reportedly drove militants out of two strategic hilltop positions along the northeastern frontier with Syria in a preemptive operation.
“The Army will protect the country from any danger. Lebanon won’t be a supportive environment for terrorism,” he told local daily As-Safir.
“We will not let takfiri terrorists defeat us,” Kahwagi added.
