Leader of Lebanese forces political party Samir Geagea condemned on Wednesday Hezbollah’s intervention in the Syrian conflict. He questioned the Islamic militant group’s reasons for its involvement, saying that the party has exposed itself by proving it does not care about national interest. Hezbollah recently spearheaded a three week assault in the Syrian town of Qusayr, near the Lebanese border which culminated with its recapture from the opposition fighter. “Hezbollah revealed that it\'s not a Lebanese party but a regional power that is taking part in a big scheme. The party doesn\'t take into consideration the nation\'s best interest,” Geagea told reporters in Meraab. He asserted that Hezbollah is a Lebanese party “in theory,” but in reality “it\'s an armed party that has experience and is connected to sizable strategies in the region.” Geagea stated that Lebanon has entered“dangerous stage,” due to Hezbollah’s endeavours, adding that the division in the country is on a national level and not a sectarian one. Geagea noted that Hezbollah\'s practices affect Lebanon, adding that he expects that the party will pass through difficulties in the future due to its engagement in “adventures in Syria.”
