Lebanese judge Riad Abu Ghayda has issued an arrest warrant for Syrian intelligence chief, Major General Ali Mamlou
Suspects are accused of transporting explosive devices from Syria to Lebanon with the aim of detonating them in northern Lebanon, reportedly in Tripoli and Akkar. The men allegedly targeted Akkar parliamentarians and local clerics who publicly backed the Syrian uprising against President Bashar al-Assad.
Abu Ghayda has previously summoned Mamlouk for testimony twice before, although the Syrian chief refused to attend.
