Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met here on Monday with former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Al Hariri to discuss developments in Lebanon related to the Syrian crisis. The Russian Foreign Ministry released a statement today saying that the meeting focussed on the impact of the Syrian crisis on the developments in Lebanon. The statement added that Lavrov stressed during the meeting that Russia was fully behind a united Lebanese land and an independent and sovereign Lebanese state. On the Syrian crisis, Lavrov stressed that there was no choice other than reaching a political resolution to the crisis, noting that such a solution benefited the Middle-East region as it limits foreign intervention in Syria.
