Israeli officials revealed on Wednesday that its army is increasing rocket defences ?near the southern borders with Egypt to \"confront any attacks\" that might be ?launched by armed men against the Egyptian security in Sinai.?
Minister of Israeli army Moshe Ya\'alon said that there currently confrontations in Sinai ?between \"terrorists and the Egyptian army, police and security forces,\" adding “We hear reports every day of ?attacks there and our concern is that the guns will be turned on us. We have indeed strengthened our deployment along the border in case a rocket is ?launched against the city.?\"
Ya\'alon affirmed that since the overthrow of Egypr\'s former leader, Morsi, Egypt increased its efforts to curb militants who exploit security in Sinai since the fall of Hosni Mubarak.?
The minister added: \"We can see much more effective activity of the Egyptian army and security forces ?in Sinai in the past few months and mainly in the past few weeks after the change in government.\"?
His comments come after escalating violence in Sinai since the Egyptian army ousted Mohammed Morsi on July 3, with at least 20 killed in the region.
