Two Iranian journalists have been killed in Syria, according to an Iranian TV channel. Ismail Hidry, a documentary filmmaker, was killed near Damascus on Wednesday, only a day after the killing of his colleague Hady Baghbany, Iranian media said. The journalists had travelled to Syria to make a documentary about extremism in the country for an Iranian state-owned TV channel. Iranian media attributed the deaths to ultraconservative “Salafist groups.” Iran’s foreign affairs spokesman in Damascus, Abbas Golrou, confirmed the killing of the two filmmakers.
